April comes, and 100'000s of daphodills are out in the Jura. One of the very best places to see fields over and over in yellow: Cerneux Godat, a tiny settlment to the North of Les Bois, also with very beautiful Jura houses!
The Bison farm is in Les Colisses du Bas, a good hour of walk from the final station of the bus climbing up from Biel to Pres d'Orvin/Le Grillong. Follow the walking trail and not the road, which unfortunately is very busy with people that prefer to climb the mountains in their 4*4! What a hassle! More on http://www.bisonranch.ch/
They are a magnificient animal - just a pity they are American bisons, and not the European ones. In their sizable flock under the Jura sapins at the foot of Chasseral, they make dream of the vast forests Europe has once been covered with. Not bad either: Bison terrine and home made bread!
I have been writing short stories since living away from my home country Switzerland. Living abroad is the encounter of the difference, seeking to understand it, appreciating it. Travelling is searching for the moments, the people, the landscapes. Writing it down is trying to save the moments for longer. The stories you want to tell your grandchildren when you will be old.
The pleasure of traveling – moving – is most often found in the smallest of details. The big splashes are always remembered. But it is the collection of smaller, more intimate moments that often define the memory of a trip!
Enjoy!
